Notes

Collective Manifesto Effort

  • Daniel (Polkadot Agent) is leading the effort to sound out a BD Collective. Before going on-chain, we need to define what we want to do and how to organize ourselves.
  • We have not decided to form an on-chain collective yet, but are just sounding out the idea. Daniel will write up a draft this weekend, and we will have a group to discuss it at Sub0.
  • We should first figure out the greatest ecosystem needs around BD which haven’t been solved yet. That can help inform whether a Collective is needed and what it might do.

Supportive points for a Collective:

  • Sometimes BD needs a longer term investment for an uncertain payoff, and this is difficult for OpenGov to invest in. A BD Collective may be able to handle this and make the investment with more understanding.
  • Sometimes BD needs secrecy, e.g. all deals may not be able to go on-chain right away. A collective may add the ability for discretion in evaluation of BD deals and payment of commissions.

Followup:

  • We should gather the list of BD needs and common bottlenecks, via a show-and-tell call and/or shared doc [William]

University Outreach

  • PBA is not able to make the call, but will send out info on a potential Education Collective later in the week.
  • Richard is working with CryptoUK and UCL on an education initiative to connect governments and universities
  • Daniel is also interested in creating a “Web3 University”
  • Ingo - Professors need funding and this may lead to an opportunity for Polkadot
  • The Brazilian team is also working on educational initiatives.

Potential Playbook

  • We previously discussed the need for a Playbook having to do with Universities. This might include University-targeted initiatives (e.g. PBA, Archisinal, Clubs funded by Event/Meetup bounty)

Mythical Case Study Effort

  • We have a case study told over slides, which may be a good basis for a 1-pager
  • Christian is following up
  • Other potential case studies: Aventus, Energy Web, Kilt, Peaq, Origin Trail

Anything Else

  • Ingo - Everyone should watch Shawn’s talk! This is how we need to sell Polkadot.
