Ambassador Collective

Project Phoenix

Currently there is an effort to spin up a new on-chain Ambassador Collective, with the intention to commence operations in 1Q 2025.

The effort, known as “Project Phoenix” has resulted in two referenda that are currently in consideration in OpenGov (Nov 2024).

  1. Ref. 1287 - an initial funding for the first quarter of program operations.
  2. Ref. 1267 - a root referenda defining the program.

An initial seeding of ambassadors is expected to take around January 2025, followed by open onboarding later in the year.

Brief History

In January of 2024, the original Polkadot Ambassador Program was decentralized and turned over the to community.

Initial On-Chain Collective

The Ambassador Program was proposed as an on-chain collective in Ref. 487.

This became active during the Summer of 2024, and 21 Head Ambassadors were elected. Referenda relating to the original Head Ambassadors can be found on Subsquare in the Fellowship Admin track.

This effort was replaced by Project Phoenix around the beginning of Q4 2024.

Second On-Chain Collective (Project Phoenix)

Project Phoenix is working to reform the Ambassador Collective into a structure similar to the Technical Fellowship. This effort involves separating funding from rank advancement in the ambassador program. For more information about the effort, see the links above.
